With his mind enveloped in the belief that all hope for his recovery from tuberculosis was lost, LEE ABERNATHY   committed suicide about 6 o’clock last Sunday evening at his home near Cates, when he shot himself through the heart with a 32 caliber revolver. Abernathy has been afflicted for a number of years, and about two years ago returned from the Rockville Sanitarium with instruction to return after about 6 months but he never went back and has been gradually declining ever since, brooding over his condition a great deal, and making numerous threats of taking his life.  The weapon, with which he ended his life, was in the dresser drawer in the same room where deceased's bed was.  About 6 o'clock the evening meal was in readiness and Lee was asked if he cared for anything to eat.   He declined to partake of anything to eat, but bade his mother, Mrs. Abby Abernathy and his aunt, Mrs. Martha Richardson, to go ahead, and it was while they were enjoying the evening meal that the fatal shot was fired which pierced the heart and brought to a standstill the human tabernacle of Lee Abernathy.   He was about 22 years of age.  Coroner Sullivan was called from Attica and rendered a decision of death from suicidal intent.  Funeral services were held in the Snoddy church Tuesday afternoon about 3 o’clock, interment being made in the cemetery nearby.
